Regard® offers the first preservative-free all-in-one solution. Read more
Regard is an all-in-one lens solution for soft and hard contact lenses, free from traditional preservatives. Instead, Regard uses the OxyChlorite complex (chlorine dioxide) to disinfect the lens. When the lenses are inserted, the solution breaks down into a mild saline solution, releasing oxygen, so that no preservative remains on the cornea. This makes Regard particularly suitable for sensitive eyes and for wearers of silicone hydrogel lenses. The formula actively removes proteins from the lens and contains HPMC for extra moisturisation, which supports clear vision and comfort. Order Regard as an optician at SMEYEL for a mild, preservative-free lens care solution.
The patented formula activates oxygen during disinfection, effectively eliminating micro-organisms. Afterwards, the liquid neutralises completely: safe and biocompatible for the eye.
By actively pulling proteins away from the lens, Regard® prevents spots on the lens as well as the cornea, resulting in less blurred vision.
Regard® is the first all-in-one lens solution without traditional preservatives. Great for sensitive eyes and wearers looking for powerful disinfection without irritation.

Regard has been developed without traditional preservatives that remain on the eye. Instead, the formula uses the OxyChlorite complex (chlorine dioxide) for disinfection and HPMC for moisturising. Avizor describes Regard as a solution offering effective disinfection and greater comfort thanks to hypromellose and the release of oxygen onto the eye’s surface. Upon insertion, the solution breaks down into a mild saline solution, releasing oxygen, so that no traditional preservative comes into contact with the cornea. This makes Regard an option for lens wearers who are sensitive to preservatives in other solutions. Whether Regard is the right choice depends on the lens and the wearer’s circumstances and is determined by the contact lens specialist.
Regard may be suitable for wearers of soft contact lenses who are looking for an all-in-one solution without traditional preservatives that linger on the eye. This can be beneficial for those with sensitive eyes or when other solutions feel less comfortable. Regard is also suitable for silicone hydrogel lenses. It is not automatically the right choice for everyone: sensitive eyes can have several causes, such as the fit of the lens, wearing time, dry air or a disrupted tear film. If a contact lens wearer experiences persistent redness, pain, blurred vision or sensitivity to light, simply changing the solution will not be enough. In such cases, have the symptoms assessed by a contact lens specialist, optician or ophthalmologist so that the cause can be identified.
OxyChlorite is the disinfectant ingredient in Regard. It is a chlorine dioxide-based complex that eliminates microorganisms by releasing oxygen during the disinfection process. Avizor describes Regard as a solution offering effective disinfection and comfort support through hypromellose and the release of oxygen onto the surface of the eye. What makes OxyChlorite unique is that, upon insertion, the solution breaks down into a mild saline solution, meaning no traditional preservative remains on the eye. In this way, Regard combines disinfection with a preservative-free result at the moment of insertion. Always follow the instructions for use on the packaging and observe the recommended contact time to ensure that disinfection can take place fully.
Regard can be used for up to 90 days after opening. Do not use the solution for longer than the period stated on the packaging. Make a note of the opening date on the bottle so that you know when the solution needs to be replaced. Do not use the solution after the expiry date or if the packaging is damaged. An expired solution or one that has been open for too long may not clean and disinfect as effectively. Store the bottle according to the instructions on the packaging. Use fresh solution for each use and do not top up old solution with new. This ensures that the solution remains effective throughout its shelf life. If you are unsure about a bottle, replace it.
Regard is primarily intended for soft contact lenses. For hard, rigid, overnight, hybrid or scleral lenses, care systems may vary depending on the lens type. You should therefore only use Regard for these lenses if your contact lens specialist has confirmed that it is suitable for your lenses. A preservative-free lubricating solution, such as Lacrifresh Ocudry 0.20%, is often used when inserting hard lenses, as it helps with viscosity and comfort during insertion. Your contact lens specialist will determine which cleaning and storage system is suitable for the lens material and your wearing pattern. If you are unsure about suitability, please seek advice before using the solution for a different type of lens.
Regard contains an anti-protein agent that draws proteins away from the lens surface. This helps to reduce spots and deposits on the lens, which can contribute to a clear view. This only works when used correctly and daily: clean and store the lens using fresh solution each time and observe the soaking time. Blurred vision may also have causes other than lens contamination, such as an incorrect prescription, a dry tear film or the lens fit. If your vision remains blurred, even with a clean lens, have this assessed by a contact lens specialist. Regard keeps the lens clean, but is not a solution for problems relating to lens choice or the eyes themselves.
No, Regard is not a treatment for dry eyes. The solution contains HPMC, a moisturising ingredient that can help improve comfort whilst wearing lenses. Dry eyes can have several causes, such as insufficient tear production, a tear film that evaporates too quickly, prolonged wear, or spending a lot of time in front of a screen. The solution can help with comfort, but it does not address the underlying cause. If the symptoms persist, have your eyes, contact lenses and tear film assessed by a contact lens specialist, optician or ophthalmologist. Eye drops may be used as a supplement for extra lubrication. The most suitable solution depends on the cause and will be determined by the professional.
Regard is an isotonic, buffered solution containing purified water. The ingredients are: sodium chloride, boric acid, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (0.15%), poloxamine and OxyChlorite. The OxyChlorite complex provides disinfection, whilst the hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) acts as a moisturising agent. The poloxamine aids in cleaning the lens surface. The formula contains no traditional preservatives that remain on the eye. If you wish to check the full, up-to-date composition, please refer to the packaging and the Avizor leaflet supplied with the product. Use the solution in accordance with the instructions for use and observe the contact time to ensure that cleaning and disinfection are carried out as intended.
Yes. All Regard packs come with a lens case. The 100 ml travel pack contains a lens case, the single 355 ml pack contains a lens case, and the value pack containing two 355 ml bottles contains two lens cases. A clean lens case is important for proper lens care: replace the case regularly and rinse it with fresh solution, not tap water. Individual lens cases are also available separately in the range of accessories. Choose the pack size based on the expected duration of use and demand in your practice, so that you can cater for both trial users and regular customers.
