This extremely simple hygiene measure is still very often forgotten by consumers worldwide. Simply never just pour extra liquid to a leftover old liquid in your container. Always rinse the container completely, let it air-dry upside down on a tissue and after four weeks, throw it straight into the bin without question.

These two common lens accessories are designed for very different types of contact lenses. A flat lens holder is basically a low, shallow tray with often two separate screw caps twisted on top. This holder is perfect for soft contact lenses. They lie nice and flat on the bottom and are immediately very easy to scoop out of the container with your fingertip or tweezers. An RGP lens holder, on the other hand, is a much higher, barrel-shaped box, often fitted with a special insert basket. This is designed exclusively for form-fitting (hard) RGP lenses. You snap the small, hard lens safely and securely into this basket, allowing the strong fluid or oxygen supply to circulate unobstructed around the entire lens. Never use unsafe tap water for this, as it can directly transfer harmful amoebas to your device. Afterwards, always let the hollow sucker dry thoroughly in the safe open air. Only store it in a clean, sealed storage box once it has really dried up completely.
Scleral lenses belong to a very unique, medical and often quite expensive category of form-stable lenses. They are characterised by their exceptionally large diameter and very distinctive, deep convexity. This brilliant design allows them to fall completely freely and comfortably over the entire sensitive cornea, resting gently on the firmer, white part (the sclera) of your eye. This large bulge and considerable width simply won't fit in any ordinary, standard storage case. If you do try to forcefully push a large sclera lens into a far too tight container, it will immediately deform or damage this very expensive lens. Yes, this is actually one of the biggest hidden advantages of this innovative tool from our lens accessories collection. Bottles of heavy liquid or a small lens case can slip very quickly due to dried soap residue, after which your lens suddenly falls untraceable on the tiles. New soft daily lenses often come in a small plastic tub also called a blister. Because the contact lens is almost transparent and floats comfortably in a layer of refreshing saline solution, grabbing it with your bare, clumsy fingers can still be quite tricky in the early morning. Always use the rounded, small tips of your silicone tweezers for this. Gently open the foil of the blister pack all the way. Very carefully insert the silicone tips into the clear liquid, gently grasp the outer edge of the soft lens and gently lift the lens from the container in one smooth, calm movement. Then place the lens directly with the right convex side up on the clean tip of your index finger, so that you can immediately insert it painlessly afterwards.
Although at first glance it sounds like an excellent and very easy method for at home, we really, really strongly advise against boiling out our flat lens cases. The modern plastics from which most of the common lens accessories in our range are made simply do not withstand this extreme and persistent heat at all. When you immerse them in a hot pan of boiling water, the screw caps or the small box itself can imperceptibly deform and melt considerably. The fatal and irreparable consequence of this is that the cap then no longer seals 100 per cent airtight and seamlessly onto the screw thread. Liquid then not only evaporates very quickly, but unwanted, dangerous bacteria can also sneak in from your bag. Rinsing and simply throwing it away immediately after a month is the way to go.
Yes, the dedicated Sclera contact lens vacuum is substantially, visibly different from the standard small contact lens vacuum used for regular, narrow form-fitting lenses. A large Sclera lens not only weighs more due to its size, but also fills with liquid just before you insert it into your eye. This demands a very stable and safe base while handling it. The Sclera plunger is significantly shorter, wider and designed much more solidly in the hand. As a result, the wide and soft top (the nap) offers remarkably more support to the large bulge of the lens. As a result, the lens instantly balances much more firmly on the specific tool and the necessary, protective saline solution does not flow off directly at all during your exciting journey towards the eyeball.
This very small but really extremely useful visual detail on our flat and tall lens cases prevents very big frustrations in the early morning. In fact, almost most people need just a slightly different eye strength or a very specific cylinder in their left eye compared to their right eye. Even if both lenses look 100 per cent exactly identical in the fluid. If you do accidentally swap them in the container in a hurry, you will immediately suffer from eyestrain, severe headaches and noticeably blurred, cloudy vision the following day. By consistently using the left cap for your left lens, you completely automatically bypass this careless and unnecessary mistake every day. So pay really, really tight attention to that at all times.
